Finally the wait is over! After years of searching, we can now offer what we believe is the best available Freestanding Wing Chun Wooden Dummy. Manufactured exclusively in China, this new design blends the craftsmanship of our traditional wall mounted dummies with flexibility of the ingenious freestanding base to create a truly functional piece of training equipment that requires no fixings to the floor or wall.

Manufactured from solid European Beech, the dummy body, arms and leg are crafted from carefully selected timbers to ensure unrivaled quality. These are then sanded by hand and finished and sealed with a low sheen lacquer to enhance the beauty of the wood. The new height adjustable stand has been designed to allow the dummy functional stability and can absorb pressure and force delivered from the correct angles whilst still retaining movement, and can be positioned to suit each individuals measurements. In addition to the metal base the dummy also has specially designed additional weights that can be purchased to add further weight to the base of the dummy if required.

This design is perfect for any practitioner that does not have the space or permanent position to use one of our original wall mounted dummies, and for instructors looking for a portable Wooden Dummy that can be used for demonstrations or club training.

Each bag features 3 strong metal D-Rings for securely hanging the wallbag to the wall, and the strong metal zips at the rear of each section which allow them to be filled, are covered with a robust canvas flap which prevents the zips being damaged from movement against the wall when the bag is being struck.

There is a wide choice of filling materials that can be used for the wallbag, but we would recommend the sections be filled with Maple Peas or Play pit sand that can be sourced from most good DIY chains.

Based on the Famous Koo Sang Wooden Dummy design made famous by the late Grand Master Yip Man, each Wooden Dummy is handcrafted from the finest premium hardwood timbers. Available in a choice of solid American Oak or solid Mahogany, all of the wood we use is carefully selected by hand from sustainable sources to ensure that every Wooden Dummy we produce meets the highest standards that both we and our customers would expect from such a beautiful Jong.

Each part of the dummy is carefully constructed using a combination of traditional skills combined with the latest technology.

The Trunk - Manufactured from solid Oak/Mahogany that has been professionally kiln dried, each piece has been laminated together using an incredibly strong 2-part epoxy resin glue for maximum strength. The square block is then turned on a giant lathe to produce a completely cylindrical body ready for the square mortises to be chiselled out by hand.

The Arms - Each arm is turned from solid Oak/Mahogany and then shaped by hand to ensure the correct taper. The two upper arms are offset in the traditional way, which allows the angles to be altered to create a tight or wide centreline to work through. The middle arm is centred, and each arm is smoothly tapered to give the authentic look and feel.

The Leg - Manufactured using a six-piece construction technique to ensure the maximum strength can be achieved. We use solid pieces of kiln dried solid Oak/Mahogany, which is laminated together using the same 2-part epoxy resin glue that we employ when making the trunk. Each leg is then carefully rounded off by hand to create a cylindrical shape that ensures there are no sharp edges to kick or press the shin on.

The Stand – The uniquely designed height adjustable stand is essential in making sure that the dummy is positioned to the correct height according to each practitioner’s measurements. The design allows the height to be adjusted by simply moving the bolts up and down in the pre-drilled holes. The stand is made entirely from the same premium solid Oak/Mahogany as the rest of the dummy.

The Finish - Every part of the dummy is sanded to a glass like finish and then sealed with a high grade clear lacquer to ensure maximum durability. Our Mahogany dummies are finished with a beautiful rich walnut stain, and our Oak Wooden Dummy is stained to a warm, light brown. Every dummy is produced to a standard that is equal to a quality piece of furniture and looks just as good in the house as it does in the gym.
